The author has been able to identify and provide easy fixings for 3 elements of the swing that made a great difference for me. Upper arms, shoulder rotation, and lag. The title is more ambitious than the book. The best money ever spent in golf. ...more
[2] Rating: 4 Date: 2010-08-22 Summary: Not quite there yet ... I took the instruction to the range, but teeing off with my three wood, I found this swing produced a pretty severe hook. My driver was better, long and high with a draw. Maybe Mr. Tamayo felt the need to keep the text within some range (this would have been better achieved by editing the rationale behind some of his teaching ), but I think a chapter on troubleshooting the swing would be highly welcomed. ...more

I read 3/4 of the book early before my Sunday round and was amazed at the improvement in my ball striking the very first time and with limited time to go through thepractice drills. The principles are simple and limited. I intend to review the principles before each round. This is a no brainer if you want a better score. ...more

I've gone from an 8 handicap to a 13 handicap, and thought about giving up the game. But since I am in the golf business, that would be difficult to do. I have read literally dozens of golf books, and spent thousands on lessons. I just finished this fantastic book in less than 24 hours, and I know this is the answer. It is clearly written with great sequential pictures and illustrations. It explains many of the fundamentals in an easy to understand manner. The book is an easy read- informative without being technical and the right amount of anecdote is mixed in. The only negative I can find so far is the actual writing style. After hearing him talk & realizing his age at the time of publication the words don't seem to be his voice. It seems that editors style is most prevalent. Jack does a great job in going through his swing, and it provides quite some interesting and thought-provoking suggestions on why he did things a certain way. For this, I would suggest golf newcomers to start with Ben Hogan's "Five lessons" first.
