Match, The: The Day the Game of Golf Changed Forever
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-12-30
Summary: Interesting golf history
... This book was interesting from a historical perspective. It probably wouldn't be something a non-golfer would appreciate, but it was a fun read. It told a story of some historic golfers that I didn't know much about, but it gave you a appreciation for how the game has developed in recent years. I would recomend it to any golfer that thinks golf begins with Tiger.

Summary: Great Book if you like to read about Golf
... Amazing recap of a real Match between 4 golf legends. Frost works the story like a great golf course and weaves in a wonderful history of the 4 legends and the how the game of golf changed from an amateur world to the professional world that we all know today. This book is for someone that loves golf....if they are not an avid golfer, I am not sure this book will hold the interest of a general sport fan or just novel reader. I recommend the good, great read. Enjoy

Summary: A Battle Of (The) Ages!
... Is this the greatest golf match ever played? After reading this book, I would imagine most people would say, "yes." It's hard to argue against that claim. This not only was an incredible display of golf, but pitted "old verses new," "amateur vs. professional," "hot shots" vs. "has-beens." Actually, Ken Venturi and Harvie Ward weren't just newcomers on the scene. They had established themselves as young guys who could beat anyone, young or old. In today's world, they would have young pros.(Picture a young Tiger Woods

Mark Frost's gripping new book, The Match ." -- Golf magazine "Frost weaves an exceptional narrative . . . Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-24 Summary: Grand Slam of a Book ... Just as Tiger Woods is the real deal as a golfer and as a human, so is his book "How I Play Golf." I bought this book when it first came out. Seven years later, it continues to be a reference I use over and over. This book is well written, well organized, and is printed on high quality glossy stock. Everything about it is top notch, reflecting the excellence you expect from Tiger Woods. Hands down, with few exceptions, I'd put Tiger and his book up against the teaching-pro trinket books of the day that are spewed out ...more

Editorial Reviews [1] ... Product Description | Theres no denying that Tiger Woods has taken golf by storm. It seems like every time this 25-year-old swings a club, another PGA record is shattered. The Tiger phenomenon has created a new legion of golfers, seduced by Woods's almost effortless mastery of this most difficult game. In How I Play Golf Woods reveals the many facets of his game and offers a plethora of tips and advice aimed at all levels of play. Unlike most golf guides, and perhaps somewhat surprising from a player best known for his long game, How I Play Golf begins with the short game--putting,...more

Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2007-03-24 Summary: A Gift ... I got this for a golf fanatic friend of ours and he loves it. Small size but lots of pages of wonderful golf courses. A great gift for any golf nut. ...more
[2] Rating: 4 Date: 2009-01-06 Summary: 365 days, but not all 365 photos are worthy ... The majority of the photos in this book are fantastic, but some of them are a bit drab, be it because of the locations or the colors of some of the courses. But overall, this is a fantastic book - it's sturdy, presented well, and full of lots of great photos. It's a shame all of them weren't consistently gorgeous - a few of the photos seem a bit amateurish and the locations aren't all as spectacular as I'd have expected. ...more
[3] Rating: 4 Date: 2007-01-18 Summary: BEAUTIFUL ... I bought this gift for my father-in-law for Christmas. It is an absolutely beautiful book and looks a lot more expensive that what I paid for it. It is well worth the price. ...more

[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2007-10-10 Summary: Necessary reading for golfers. ... I wish I'd read this book 45 years ago, when I started playing golf. If you're a serious golfer -- one who wants to play your best, and works toward that goal -- you have a choice: get into a good flexibility and strengthening program, or be prepared to spend some really painful time in bed, not playing golf in beautiful weather. This book provides what you need to lower the likelihood of encountering the pain and misery of golf-related back problems. There are no guarantees in life, but it has transformed golf for ...more

Editorial Reviews ... Product Description | The acclaimed author of Back Rx and Arthritis Rx (more than 50,000 combined copies in print) returns with the first book fully devoted to improving your golf game and reducing pain. Many recreational and professional golfers suffer from some form of lower back pain. But research conducted by sports-medicine specialist Vijay Vad, M.D., with PGA Tour...more
The Negotiable Golf Swing: How to Improve Your Game Without Picture-Perfect Form
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-03 Summary: Finally, I understand... ... Why is Tiger's swing so different to Furyk's yet both "get the job done"? But don't just stop at that comparison - look at all the pros and there are just so many variations. So it's very refreshing to see a PGA pro discuss different aspects of the swing and explain what is negotiable and what isn't, but more importantly, WHY, and what to look at and correct if you want to hit the ball better. There's a reason why out of 20 reviewers so far, all have given this book a 5 star review. And why some of those reviewers, ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-15 Summary: Excellent book ... I have been playing book for 36 years and have read at least 100 books and magazines articles. Found things in this book that were expressed differently that made the light went go on for several key points. 1. Pivot around the hip sockets. 2. Shoulders are the most important alignment. The section on ball flight is worth the price of the book, best ever. Peter Jacobs book comes close but you raised the bar. When is the last time you bought a golf book and the author would answer your email. Joe will and has done that ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-09-24 Summary: An Essential for Your Golf Library ... Most of my comments have been said elsewhere, but as the dubious owner of dozens of golf instruction books (including the excellent Pelz putting and short games tomes) I can say that this book is in the top tier. The ball flight description alone is worth the price of admission. If, over the course of your golfing life, you buy five instructional books - this should make your list. ...more
[4] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-12 Summary: The reviews are the same for a reason. ... I got it last night and I'm on page 107. So my judgments obvioulsy arent complete yet. But, I feel so much smarter now, I always knew what the things they said you had to do on your swing were, but i never knew why. This book shows it. Just the part on ball flights along is breathtaking. I'll do another review when I finish the book and apply this on the course. But I feel like I could coach Tiger now. Not hit like him! But coach him (not really but you get the point)! ...more
