Match, The: The Day the Game of Golf Changed Forever
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-12-30
Summary: Interesting golf history
... This book was interesting from a historical perspective. It probably wouldn't be something a non-golfer would appreciate, but it was a fun read. It told a story of some historic golfers that I didn't know much about, but it gave you a appreciation for how the game has developed in recent years. I would recomend it to any golfer that thinks golf begins with Tiger.

Summary: Great Book if you like to read about Golf
... Amazing recap of a real Match between 4 golf legends. Frost works the story like a great golf course and weaves in a wonderful history of the 4 legends and the how the game of golf changed from an amateur world to the professional world that we all know today. This book is for someone that loves golf....if they are not an avid golfer, I am not sure this book will hold the interest of a general sport fan or just novel reader. I recommend the good, great read. Enjoy

As a beginner golfer and a tournament tennis player, I found this book equally helpful for both sports. The power of positive thinking is tremendous. This book was recommended to me by at least 4 different golfers and proved to be everything they said it would be. Now I know I can play better golf, I just need to find the tee times ...more

Editorial Reviews [1] ... Product Description | Dr. Bob Rotella is one of the hottest performance consultants in America today. Among his many professional clients are Nick Price (last year's Player of the Year), Tom Kite, Davis Love III, Pat Bradley, Brad Faxon, John Daly, and many others. Rotella, or "Doc," as most players refer to him, goes beyond just the usual mental aspects of the game and the reliance on specific techniques. What Rotella does here in this extraordinary book, and with his clients, is to create an attitude and...more
[2] ... Review | One of golf guru Jim Flick's mantras is that golf is 90 percent mental, and the other 10 percent is mental, too. Dr. Bob Rotella, a noted sports psychologist and performance consultant, roots around the golfer's mind to expose--and analyze--the doubts, the fears, and the frustrations that haunt anyone who's ever picked up a club and swung it. Through anecdote and aphorism he suggests how these mental and emotional hazards can be played through, and, regardless of skill level, how teeing off with a...more
The Negotiable Golf Swing: How to Improve Your Game Without Picture-Perfect Form
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-03 Summary: Finally, I understand... ... Why is Tiger's swing so different to Furyk's yet both "get the job done"? But don't just stop at that comparison - look at all the pros and there are just so many variations. So it's very refreshing to see a PGA pro discuss different aspects of the swing and explain what is negotiable and what isn't, but more importantly, WHY, and what to look at and correct if you want to hit the ball better. There's a reason why out of 20 reviewers so far, all have given this book a 5 star review. And why some of those reviewers, ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-09-24 Summary: An Essential for Your Golf Library ... Most of my comments have been said elsewhere, but as the dubious owner of dozens of golf instruction books (including the excellent Pelz putting and short games tomes) I can say that this book is in the top tier. The ball flight description alone is worth the price of admission. If, over the course of your golfing life, you buy five instructional books - this should make your list. ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-12 Summary: The reviews are the same for a reason. ... I got it last night and I'm on page 107. So my judgments obvioulsy arent complete yet. But, I feel so much smarter now, I always knew what the things they said you had to do on your swing were, but i never knew why. This book shows it. Just the part on ball flights along is breathtaking. I'll do another review when I finish the book and apply this on the course. But I feel like I could coach Tiger now. Not hit like him! But coach him (not really but you get the point)! ...more
[4] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-15 Summary: Excellent book ... I have been playing book for 36 years and have read at least 100 books and magazines articles. Found things in this book that were expressed differently that made the light went go on for several key points. 1. Pivot around the hip sockets. 2. Shoulders are the most important alignment. The section on ball flight is worth the price of the book, best ever. Peter Jacobs book comes close but you raised the bar. When is the last time you bought a golf book and the author would answer your email. Joe will and has done that ...more

Bill Kroen's Golf Tip-A-Day: 2009 Day-to-Day Calendar
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-09-06 Summary: Bill Kroen's Golf Tip-A-Day ... "The more I teach, the more I try to find the simplest way to convey the message. From my earliest days as a player to today, I've been a Harvey Penick disciple. Mr. Penick's words were simple to understand and through his teachings, I was able to find my teaching style. We all know how hard this game is, but I don't believe that understanding instruction should be hard as well." I wrote the above as part of my personal teaching philosophies. Reading Mr. Kroen's calendar, I find that simple "Penick" like approach ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-09-14 Summary: Bill Kroens Golf Tip-A-Day: ... I am on my 3rd Golf Tip-A-Day Calendar. What a great deal and a part of my daily regiment. It is on my work desk and is one of the first thinks I read in the morning. The great part is it's just a glance away when you are on the phone to re-read throughout the day. The teaching style is simple, easy to remember and fundamentally sound. When you find something that hits close to you simply pin it to your workspace to return to thought the season. In my eyes this is the modern day "Little Red Book". Put it on your list ...more
