[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-24 Summary: Grand Slam of a Book ... Just as Tiger Woods is the real deal as a golfer and as a human, so is his book "How I Play Golf." I bought this book when it first came out. Seven years later, it continues to be a reference I use over and over. This book is well written, well organized, and is printed on high quality glossy stock. Everything about it is top notch, reflecting the excellence you expect from Tiger Woods. Hands down, with few exceptions, I'd put Tiger and his book up against the teaching-pro trinket books of the day that are spewed out ...more
[3] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-08-29 Summary: The Photographs tell Half the Story ... Filled with fantastic photographs that do half the battle of ingraining the image of good technique into your mind, the book examines each element of the game and the swing, as Tiger plays it. He caveats at the beginning that his goal is not to tell us how to play, but rather to tell us how he plays and what works for him. The book is also filled with lots of fun anecdotes which, now that ...more

Among his many professional clients are Nick Price (last year's Player of the Year), Tom Kite, Davis Love III, Pat Bradley, Brad Faxon, John Daly, and many others. What Rotella does here in this extraordinary book, and with his clients, is to create an attitude and...more
[2] ... Review | One of golf guru Jim Flick's mantras is that golf is 90 percent mental, and the other 10 percent is mental, too. Dr. Bob Rotella, a noted sports psychologist and performance consultant, roots around the golfer's mind to expose--and analyze--the doubts, the fears, and the frustrations that haunt anyone who's ever picked up a club and swung it. Through anecdote and aphorism he suggests how these mental and emotional hazards can be played through, and, regardless of skill level, how teeing off with a...more
The Negotiable Golf Swing: How to Improve Your Game Without Picture-Perfect Form
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-12 Summary: The reviews are the same for a reason. ... I got it last night and I'm on page 107. So my judgments obvioulsy arent complete yet. But, I feel so much smarter now, I always knew what the things they said you had to do on your swing were, but i never knew why. This book shows it. Just the part on ball flights along is breathtaking. I'll do another review when I finish the book and apply this on the course. But I feel like I could coach Tiger now. Not hit like him! But coach him (not really but you get the point)! ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-03 Summary: Finally, I understand... ... Why is Tiger's swing so different to Furyk's yet both "get the job done"? But don't just stop at that comparison - look at all the pros and there are just so many variations. So it's very refreshing to see a PGA pro discuss different aspects of the swing and explain what is negotiable and what isn't, but more importantly, WHY, and what to look at and correct if you want to hit the ball better. There's a reason why out of 20 reviewers so far, all have given this book a 5 star review. And why some of those reviewers, ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-11 Summary: Golf Lover? The Negotiable Golf Swing is a MUST BUY ... The game of golf is described as one of the most difficult games on the planet. Doesn't that go against the sense of the word, "game?" Tiger Woods may have transcended the sport, but golf professionals of late have been fixated on body mechanics and positions. Mr. Laurentino's philosophy and methodology is a refreshing look at how the game of golf can be fun again. Any person with athletic ability can pick up a football or baseball and throw it. However, this same group cannot all hit a golf ball. Why? Because they ...more
[4] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-09-24 Summary: An Essential for Your Golf Library ... Most of my comments have been said elsewhere, but as the dubious owner of dozens of golf instruction books (including the excellent Pelz putting and short games tomes) I can say that this book is in the top tier. The ball flight description alone is worth the price of admission. If, over the course of your golfing life, you buy five instructional books - this should make your list. ...more
Editorial Reviews ... Product Description | A negotiable golf swing is a compatible arrangement of the many permissible alternatives that, while not conforming to the computer models of the perfect golf swing, can still function very well to get the job done. By identifying and organizing these negotiable swing components, The Negotiable Golf Swing will show you how you can use basic swing components and their permissible permutations to negotiate a better game of golf. In other words, you can learn how to play a better game of...more
