... After being frustrated with myself on the golf course during the past few months I was beginning to wonder if I might stop playing.I have a handicap of 19 and was really struggling to play to it.Once I had a bad hole I would get down on myself and the whole thing would snowball. After reading Zen Golf and putting into practice some of the techniques I have played two lots of 9 hole stableford competitions and had 23+25 points. I have played 2 rounds of 18 holes in competition. The first round of our club championship

Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-14 Summary: A must, but not just for golfers... ... WHAT A GREAT BOOK! This book makes perfect easy sense of everything. As a beginner golfer and a tournament tennis player, I found this book equally helpful for both sports. The power of positive thinking is tremendous. This book was recommended to me by at least 4 different golfers and proved to be everything they said it would be. Now I know I can play better golf, I just need to find the tee times ...more

Editorial Reviews [1] ... Product Description | Dr. Bob Rotella is one of the hottest performance consultants in America today. Among his many professional clients are Nick Price (last year's Player of the Year), Tom Kite, Davis Love III, Pat Bradley, Brad Faxon, John Daly, and many others. Rotella, or "Doc," as most players refer to him, goes beyond just the usual mental aspects of the game and the reliance on specific techniques. What Rotella does here in this extraordinary book, and with his clients, is to create an attitude and...more
[2] ... Review | One of golf guru Jim Flick's mantras is that golf is 90 percent mental, and the other 10 percent is mental, too. Dr. Bob Rotella, a noted sports psychologist and performance consultant, roots around the golfer's mind to expose--and analyze--the doubts, the fears, and the frustrations that haunt anyone who's ever picked up a club and swung it. Through anecdote and aphorism he suggests how these mental and emotional hazards can be played through, and, regardless of skill level, how teeing off with a...more

Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2007-11-18 Summary: Useful Info for beginner and intermediate golfer alike ... From a novice golfer: This book was well-written and covers many of the technical fundamentals of the game. I found that the descriptions of the techniques, as well as the exercises to improve your stance or physical ability, was just as helpful as the explanation of the finer points of playing the game. I was going to read it cover-to-cover, but ended up skipping the majority of "The Part of Tens" which covers such things as the author's ten favorite private and public golf courses, and the ten favorite male and female ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-03-20 Summary: Great book for explaining the fundamentals ... This is a great book that explains the fundamentals. [2] ... Review | If you don't know the difference between a lob wedge and a lemon wedge, check out Golf for Dummies, by CBS commentator Gary McCord, one of the game's most colorful--and knowledgeable--characters. It's a wonderful, often hilarious, never boring introduction to the game. Don't let the foreword by Kevin Costner or the afterword by Hootie and the Blowfish confuse the issue; this is a terrifically sound, easy-to-follow primer. McCord's potato-chip drill--yes, potato-chip drill--will revolutionize your swing,...more
The Negotiable Golf Swing: How to Improve Your Game Without Picture-Perfect Form
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-15 Summary: Excellent book ... I have been playing book for 36 years and have read at least 100 books and magazines articles. Found things in this book that were expressed differently that made the light went go on for several key points. 1. Pivot around the hip sockets. 2. Shoulders are the most important alignment. The section on ball flight is worth the price of the book, best ever. Peter Jacobs book comes close but you raised the bar. When is the last time you bought a golf book and the author would answer your email. Joe will and has done that ...more
[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-12 Summary: The reviews are the same for a reason. ... I got it last night and I'm on page 107. So my judgments obvioulsy arent complete yet. But, I feel so much smarter now, I always knew what the things they said you had to do on your swing were, but i never knew why. This book shows it. Just the part on ball flights along is breathtaking. I'll do another review when I finish the book and apply this on the course. But I feel like I could coach Tiger now. Not hit like him! But coach him (not really but you get the point)! ...more
[3] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-11 Summary: Golf Lover? The Negotiable Golf Swing is a MUST BUY ... The game of golf is described as one of the most difficult games on the planet. Doesn't that go against the sense of the word, "game?" Tiger Woods may have transcended the sport, but golf professionals of late have been fixated on body mechanics and positions. Mr. Laurentino's philosophy and methodology is a refreshing look at how the game of golf can be fun again. Any person with athletic ability can pick up a football or baseball and throw it. However, this same group cannot all hit a golf ball. Why? Because they ...more
[4] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-12-03 Summary: Finally, I understand... ... Why is Tiger's swing so different to Furyk's yet both "get the job done"? But don't just stop at that comparison - look at all the pros and there are just so many variations. So it's very refreshing to see a PGA pro discuss different aspects of the swing and explain what is negotiable and what isn't, but more importantly, WHY, and what to look at and correct if you want to hit the ball better. There's a reason why out of 20 reviewers so far, all have given this book a 5 star review. And why some of those reviewers, ...more

[2] Rating: 5 Date: 2008-09-06 Summary: Bill Kroen's Golf Tip-A-Day ... "The more I teach, the more I try to find the simplest way to convey the message. From my earliest days as a player to today, I've been a Harvey Penick disciple. Mr. Penick's words were simple to understand and through his teachings, I was able to find my teaching style. We all know how hard this game is, but I don't believe that understanding instruction should be hard as well." I wrote the above as part of my personal teaching philosophies. Reading Mr. Kroen's calendar, I find that simple "Penick" like approach ...more
