Match, The: The Day the Game of Golf Changed Forever
Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-12-30
Summary: Interesting golf history
... This book was interesting from a historical perspective. It probably wouldn't be something a non-golfer would appreciate, but it was a fun read. It told a story of some historic golfers that I didn't know much about, but it gave you a appreciation for how the game has developed in recent years. I would recomend it to any golfer that thinks golf begins with Tiger.

Summary: Great Book if you like to read about Golf
... Amazing recap of a real Match between 4 golf legends. Frost works the story like a great golf course and weaves in a wonderful history of the 4 legends and the how the game of golf changed from an amateur world to the professional world that we all know today. This book is for someone that loves golf....if they are not an avid golfer, I am not sure this book will hold the interest of a general sport fan or just novel reader. I recommend the good, great read. Enjoy

Customer Reviews [1] Rating: 4 Date: 2008-11-30 Summary: Very Easy to Use ... I found the book very informative with good figures and explanations. Editorial Reviews [1] ... Product Description | You can shoot in the 70's! Ben Hogan has long believed that any golfer with average coordination can learn to break 80 if he applies himself intelligently -- and here, with Herbert Warren Wind, and artist Anthony Ravielli, he tells you, step by step, just how to go about it. The greatest golfer of our generation has distilled his experience as teacher, player, and observer of golf into a series of richly illustrated "visual instructions" that not only can improve your game and lower your...more
[2] ... Review | Ben Hogan's premise in this 1957 classic is driven home in bold letters: "THE AVERAGE GOLFER IS ENTIRELY CAPABLE OF BUILDING A REPEATING SWING AND BREAKING 80." Religions are founded on less, and Hogan's detailed analyses and illustrated demonstrations of grip, stance, posture, and the two basic components of the swing make up a sacred book. Though its very simplicity seems dated, this is the tome of technique that should serve as the foundation of every golf library....more

[2] ... Review | One of golf guru Jim Flick's mantras is that golf is 90 percent mental, and the other 10 percent is mental, too. Dr. Bob Rotella, a noted sports psychologist and performance consultant, roots around the golfer's mind to expose--and analyze--the doubts, the fears, and the frustrations that haunt anyone who's ever picked up a club and swung it. Through anecdote and aphorism he suggests how these mental and emotional hazards can be played through, and, regardless of skill level, how teeing off with a...more

[2] ... Review | The 500 World's Greatest Golf Holes succeeds in hitting precisely the two targets any book purporting to present golf's greatest anything must aim for: it'll have golfers both arguing with and dreaming about its contents. Simultaneously. This is an altogether magnificent volume, big in size, big in contents, visually rich, and thoroughly engaging. Peper's opening essay explains how he and his editors identified the ultimate one-tenth of 1 percent of the 500,000 or so holes on the planet, and explores...more
